Michael is Winpark’s Executive Vice President responsible for overseeing Winpark operations as well as implementing marketing and business development strategies. For the last 30+ years, he has consulted and/or worked on various types of parking projects, including office tower, hotel, campuses, municipal, residential, retail and mixed-use projects, on four continents.
Michael began his career in 1984 with Classified Parking System and joined Hines in 1985. Michael led Hines’ Regional effort to bring parking self-management to several Hines office towers and Campuses. In 1990, Michael left operations and was devoted to overseeing the development of parking software as well as global parking consulting for Hines’ many new and existing real estate projects. In this role, Michael consulted on projects in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Brazil, England, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Russia, Germany and China.
In 1993, Michael over saw the development and release of Hines’s Winpark software which remained in use until 2016. As the software project manager, he was responsible for roll-out, implementation, sales and support for the software throughout the USA. The software went through 6 major version releases and involved the efforts of multiple programmers and support staff.
In 2001, Michael co-founded the Winpark Parking Group in order to pursue business opportunities outside of the Hines portfolio. The effort developed business in New Orleans, Austin, Dallas and Phoenix. The Winpark Parking Group grew from a staff of 3 to over a dozen managers and 70 employees managing as many as 40,000 parking spaces. Winpark’s accounting and operations structures have led to the highest successful-audit rate in the parking industry.
By 2014, Michael helped move Winpark into the next phase of growth with the sale of Winpark from Hines to Propark. Michael was promoted to Executive Vice President of the new Winpark. Since the transition to Propark, Michael has incorporated Propark’s values and structure into Winpark allowing the company to branch out into new parking verticals and evolving into a more dynamic and vibrant product.
In 2016, Michael’s software development team released a completely new parking management software: Cloudpark. Cloudpark has been implemented in all Winpark operations as well as non-Winpark operations. He continues to search for opportunities in new verticals and remains in demand for consulting in all aspects of parking throughout various parking verticals.
Michael is an avid photographer, especially of architecture, and is a certified swim official for USA Swimming, Texas High School UIL Swimming and NWAL Summer League Swimming. He is married and has two children.
Michael is a graduate of McKendree University and is a founding Board Member of the Green Parking Council. He has been a member of the International Parking Institute since 1990 and currently serves on the Parking Matters Subcommittee.
